Philip Trusttum, ONZM has been the celebrated patron of the Oxford Gallery since its establishment in 2010.
‘Son of Oxford’ Philip has a long-standing relationship with the Waimakariri area. His family lived in Oxford from 1949-54 before moving to Hawarden, Rangiora, and then to Ashley. Philip’s father, Bill, was the bookkeeper for Fenwick’s Garage in Oxford for a while. Philip’s interest in art was first taken seriously in Oxford when he was sent, aged 12, for painting lessons from Miss Cederman. This put him on the path towards art school and a career as a painter.
With 50+ years of art experience behind his current works, Philip has an exemplary practice that makes a huge contribution to the cultural life of communities in Canterbury.
Oxford Gallery acknowledges the ongoing determination and support of Mr. and Mrs. Trusttum.
Oxford Gallery is governed by Oxford Arts Trust.
We aim to serve the Waimakariri District as a Creative Centre where
everyone feels enthusiastic, encouraged and positively impacted by
the arts for their wellbeing.
